FULL COVERAGE MAKEUP ROUTINE

This post is a bit different from my usual content but I absolutely love playing around with makeup and currently obsessed with watching beauty videos on youtube… so I thought I’d take the plunge and show you all how I do my makeup! I am in no way an expert, actually far from it so the way I do things may be weird but it works for me (I think). I’ve done a skincare post before which you can see here and I use the Liz Earle’s Skin Repair Light Moisturiser as my first step after I have washed my face. This really does smooth out the skin and is actually a really nice base for under foundation. However, I am really into primers lately as I need my makeup to stay put all day due to working crazy long hours at work. The two primers I’ve been loving are the NARS Multi Protective Primer and Too Faced Primed and Poreless. NARS Multi Protective Primer leaves your skin extremely soft and gives you a natural glow whereas Too Faced Primed and Poreless really does hide all your pores and creates a matte effect. I like both for different areas of my face!

I use Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation in the shade 1N1 (I’m very pale so even this is sometimes too dark for me…) and I apply this all over with a damp Real Techniques Sponge. With the sponge I feel like you can create such a smooth base and can really blend the foundation into your skin in comparison to a foundation brush which for me, takes AGES to blend… I just can’t do it. If you have troubled skin and really need a full coverage foundation, Double Wear is the one for you! I literally haven’t found anything else better. It is SO full coverage, can’t recommend it enough. For concealer I use Urban Decay Naked Skin in the shade fair to highlight my under eyes (and to hide my bags…) and I also use this down the forehead, nose and chin. I then cover up any imperfections with Estée Lauder Double Wear concealer in the shade 1W light (warm) which definitely does the job of covering them up. I blend all this in with the sponge!

To set my undereyes and places that will be prone to crease throughout the day, I use Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. I leave that powder to set in for a bit and while it does I use Mac’s Mineralise Skin Finish in medium to set the rest of the face. I love this powder as even when I’m looking extremely pale it won’t come out too orange, it’ll just sink into the face and match!

After the base is completely done I move onto bronzer! I have recently been LOVING the Zoeva Contour Spectrum Palette. The colours are just beautiful with a mix of cool and warm tones. I mix the two darkest colours together to create a contour/bronzing colour and apply this to shape the cheek. I then take these same colours round my head. I blend it all in with a NYX Buffing Brush. Now onto highlight (my favourite) I use ColourPop’s Flexitarian highlighter which is a creamy texture and then I set this cream with Mary Lou Manizer for that extra glow. I also put this in the corners of my eyes, brow bone, cupids bow and down the nose!

Now onto brows… I have been using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in the shade medium brown. I used to use Blonde but it was way too light, I love my brows to look slightly darker. Medium brown is the perfect shade and the brow wiz is so super quick to use!

Normally I won’t do much eye makeup apart from mascara but today I picked up my Zoeva Rose Golden Palette to see what I could do with it. The colours are so lovely and pigmented. I used a mix of a few colours (I’m such a rookie at doing eyeshadow) and just absolutely winged it. To add more shimmer to the lids I reached for my Morphe 35f Palette and packed them with all the shimmers… I like shimmer. To top this off I used Kat Von D Eyeliner in Trooper and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. Oh and VERY rarely I will go for some fake lashes, the ones I have on in these pictures are the Eylure 3 Dimensional N.111!

For lips I went for Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bow N Arrow, a lovely cool tone nude!

I normally then finish off everything with Urban Decays All Nighter Setting Spray which is absolutely unreal at ensuring your makeup stays all day!
