Highly recommend this wee hidden gem in Fochabers! The Walled Garden cafe is such a great little place to visit for lunch or even just to grab a coffee. If you’re driving up from Aberdeen way, when you get to the Fochabers roundabout, don’t turn into Fochabers, take the Elgin road turn off and you will see the sign directing you to Gordon Castle (don’t make the same mistake I did and end up going round the roundabout 20 times because you don’t know where to go).
The surroundings are so picturesque! When we got there it was about midday and we got told they were fully booked inside but the tables outside were available so seeing as it was a nice day we were fine sitting outside… until the biggest cloud rolled over and started chucking it down while we ate our food. Luckily we managed to move inside and have a dessert quickly! So I would definitely recommend booking a table if you are thinking about going at the weekend.
I had the battered fresh local haddock (of course) and Scott had the beef & venison burger along with two latte’s and an elderflower juice. To finish, we both shared the sticky toffee pudding!
It was honestly so nice and such a great little spot for a weekend lunch! I also noticed their very own Gordon Castle gin which I must try (if only I wasn’t driving)!!!
Lastly there’s a really lovely shop which has cute little bits and bobs in it including the Gordon Castle gin and the soap they use in the toilets there which I was quite excited about (I’m easily pleased).
Thanks so much for reading and let me know if you’ve ever been here before or have any cafe recommendations!
