Food & Drink

I absolutely love Edinburgh, especially at Christmas time. The whole city is transformed into a winter wonderland with the Christmas markets and light shows! During our trip down to the city, we went to Tigerlily; a boutique hotel which has an amazing restaurant and bar.

Tigerlily is situated on George Street and is currently right outside Edinburgh’s Street of Light which is a Christmas light show which lights up the street between 6-8pm… definitely recommend seeing it!

The restaurant and bar were beautifully decorated for Christmas which set the scene for a lovely festive evening.

Our table was set perfectly for a Christmas dinner; crackers and party poppers!

Everything on the menu sounded so delicious as well as all the festive cocktails which we had to try. Our waitress recommended the Jack Frost cocktail which was very nice but my favourite was the Christmas Caorunn (loooove gin). Along with the cocktails we had a bottle of Rose to kick off the festivities…

To start, we both had the sweet potato soup with chilli and coconut. This was delicious. I was quite surprised I liked it seeing as I’m not a big fan of sweet potato (unpopular opinion, I know…) but I really enjoyed this soup so maybe I am becoming a fan!

For mains, we also both went for the roast turkey wrapped in crisp bacon, sage and cranberry stuffing, triple cooked potatoes and honey glazed veg! We both agreed that the turkey was unbelievable… Scott even went as far to say it was the best he had ever tasted. The potatoes were amazing and thankfully I got to steal some of Scott’s.

To finish off I had the Belgian chocolate mousse with mascarpone and Scott went for the Isle of Mull cheddar, green apple and oatcakes. These were once again absolutely delicious! Of course I had to steal some of Scott’s cheese to try…

It’s fair to say we were absolutely stuffed after all the food but it was so worth it. If you’re heading down to see the Christmas markets in Edinburgh or just going down for a wee trip I highly recommend going to Tigerlily for some festive food and cocktails this December! Get your booking made ASAP as it’s starting to fill up!

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for a post on the Edinburgh Christmas Markets!

Love Jess x
