CITIZENM BANKSIDE, LONDON: A REVIEW

I have just returned back to Aberdeen after a long, busy weekend in London. My boyfriend, Scott and I stayed at the CitizenM in Bankside which is one of three CitizenM’s across London, others being located beside Tower Bridge and Shoreditch. After staying in the Glasgow CitizenM last year, I had high hopes for our stay in Bankside and was thankfully not disappointed!

CitizenM Bankside is located fairly near Southwark (which we have now found out is actually pronounced with a silent ‘W’…) tube station and is very central in terms of the nearest tourist spots. Once we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with friendly staff and a quick and easy check-in process which is all done digitally. A feature I like the most about the check-in process is that you get the choice of what room you would like to stay in, may it be a high or low room with a view of either the city or the courtyard. We went for a high floor room with a courtyard view as there were no high floor rooms with views of the city available. However, the courtyard is beautiful!

The room is very modern and is controlled using the iPad provided. The iPad controls the television (the movie selection is amazing!), temperature of the room, blinds and the lighting. The lighting for the room can be chosen through moods; romance, business, party and relax. These moods change the colour of all the lights and the bathroom area. Obviously this is not exactly a necessary aspect to the room but a quirky touch…

A complete bonus of the room would be that the hotel has recently decided to make all the items in the fridge within the rooms free!

The Lemonaid Lime was a personal fave (and really refreshing for when you’re hungover).

Overall, this CitizenM was amazing and I would highly recommend it in terms of location as it is right beside supermarkets (although, when the drinks in the fridge are free this is no longer a necessity…), Southwark tube station and also close to Tate Modern if you’re feeling arty!
